In a move to ensure accountability in the state's healthcare system, Jharkhand's health minister, Irfan Ansari, carried out an unannounced inspection of the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH) in Dumka on Monday. The minister's surprise visit was aimed at assessing the ground reality of medical services and infrastructure at the facility.
Minister Expresses Displeasure Over Deficiencies
During his tour of the hospital, Ansari did not hide his dissatisfaction with the existing lacunae in both infrastructure and patient services. He pointed out several shortcomings and directed administrative and health officials to take immediate corrective measures to address these issues.
The minister specifically noted a significant shortage of doctors at the hospital, especially in light of the increasing number of patients seeking treatment. He emphasized that such deficiencies cannot be tolerated and that the government is committed to providing quality healthcare to the public.
Announcement of Regular Surprise Inspections
To ensure continuous monitoring and improvement, Ansari announced that he would conduct surprise inspections every fortnight. These inspections will focus on the functioning of government hospitals across the state and review the overall healthcare arrangements. He stated, "Any shortcomings in healthcare services are unacceptable at any cost. Providing quality treatment and dignified healthcare facilities to the public is our government's top priority."
Appeal for Collective Effort
The health minister also appealed to doctors, healthcare workers, and administrative officials to work together for the welfare of the public. He urged them to ensure better healthcare delivery and maintain high standards of service. His message was clear: collective effort is essential to achieve the government's vision of accessible and quality healthcare for all.
