The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast for Monday, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across parts of northeast India, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in several states, and isolated heatwave conditions in East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha.

Heavy Rain Warnings for Northeast and Other Regions

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on Monday. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Telangana.

The weather office has warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph at isolated places over Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Jharkhand, Kerala and Mahe, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and Vidarbha, among other regions.

Delhi-NCR Weather

For the Delhi-NCR region, the IMD has forecast isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph over Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi.

State-wise Forecast Breakdown

Northeast India: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Assam and Meghalaya, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Heavy rainfall is also likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely at isolated places.

Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan: Isolated thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning and gusty winds is likely.

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand: Rainfall activity is likely, with thunderstorms and gusty winds forecast at isolated places.

South India: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Telangana.

Heatwave Alert

The IMD has stated that heatwave conditions are very likely at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha on Monday, posing a risk of heat-related illnesses for vulnerable populations.

Monsoon Update and Weekly Forecast

Rainfall activity is expected to continue over northeast India during the week, with fairly widespread to widespread rain forecast over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Similarly, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, and Lakshadweep over the coming days.
