Gorakhpur: Marking the beginning of National Nurses Week, second-semester BSc Nursing students from the Nursing and Paramedical Faculty of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University conducted a heatwave awareness drive in Balapar village on Wednesday. The initiative aimed to educate rural residents about the risks associated with extreme heat and the necessary preventive measures.
Educational Role-Play Sessions
Through engaging role-play presentations, the students explained the key symptoms of heatwave-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke. They demonstrated first-aid responses, emphasizing the importance of immediate cooling measures and rehydration. The sessions also highlighted ways to protect oneself from prolonged heat exposure, including staying in shaded areas and avoiding strenuous activities during peak temperatures.
Key Advice for Villagers
Villagers were advised to increase their water intake, wear light and breathable clothing, and avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours unless absolutely necessary. The students stressed the significance of recognizing early warning signs of heat-related ailments and taking prompt action.
Community Participation
The programme witnessed active participation from the local community, with many villagers appreciating the informative session. They acknowledged its relevance during the ongoing summer season, when temperatures often soar.
