Congress leader Selja has accused the Haryana government of failing to address the growing cancer crisis in Sirsa district. In a statement, she highlighted the alarming increase in cancer cases in the region and blamed the state administration for negligence and inadequate healthcare infrastructure.
Rising Cancer Cases in Sirsa
Selja pointed out that Sirsa has witnessed a surge in cancer patients over the past few years. She alleged that the government has not taken sufficient measures to provide proper treatment facilities or preventive healthcare programs. The lack of a dedicated cancer hospital in the district forces patients to travel long distances for treatment, often at great financial and emotional cost.
Government Response
The Haryana government has denied the allegations, stating that it has implemented several health schemes and is working to improve medical facilities. However, Selja countered that the government's claims are hollow and that the ground reality remains grim. She demanded immediate action, including setting up a cancer care center in Sirsa and launching awareness campaigns about early detection.
Selja also criticized the ruling party for prioritizing politics over public health. She urged the Chief Minister to visit Sirsa and witness the plight of cancer patients firsthand. The issue has sparked a political debate, with opposition parties rallying behind Selja's demand for better healthcare.
Local residents have echoed Selja's concerns, sharing stories of delayed diagnoses and expensive treatments. Many have called for a comprehensive health policy to address the environmental and lifestyle factors contributing to the cancer epidemic in the region.
