Hyderabad: Government advisor and noted oncologist Dr Nori Dattatreyudu on Friday met chief minister A Revanth Reddy and presented the ‘Cancer Atlas of Telangana’ to him.
“The atlas developed by Nori Dattatreyudu would be immensely useful in the fight against cancer. This report provides an opportunity to identify regions with a high prevalence of cancer and to investigate the underlying causes,” Revanth said.
The CM added that based on the data provided in the report, it would be possible to establish special cancer screening centres in areas with high incidence rates.
CM Revanth announced that rather than limiting services solely to Hyderabad, special hospitals would be established in other regions where there is a high concentration of cancer patients.
He also issued instructions to ensure that cancer treatment under the Aarogyasri scheme is delivered more effectively in corporate hospitals.
