Amravati Cop Sets Underwater Yoga Records

Amravati head constable Pravin Dadarao Akhre has redefined yoga by practicing it underwater, combining discipline, endurance, and innovation. His feats have earned him multiple records and inspired the police force.

Record-Breaking Underwater Yoga Performances

On May 28, 2023, Akhre performed over 50 yoga asanas while floating on water for 22 minutes and 53 seconds, earning a place in the India Book of Records. On September 10, 2023, he remained motionless in 11-foot-deep water for 1 hour and 2 minutes, recognized by both the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records.

Continuing his pursuit, on July 21, 2024, he demonstrated underwater yoga for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. On Independence Day 2024, he showcased exceptional breath control by remaining underwater for 90 seconds while holding the national flag.

Public Safety Contributions

Beyond records, Akhre played a crucial role in flood control and search-and-rescue operations from 2012 to 2019, helping recover 78 bodies and rescuing 55 marooned people.

Police Department Recognition

On the eve of International Yoga Day, senior Amravati police officers lauded Akhre's practice. Police Commissioner Rakesh Ola said, “Practising yoga underwater is exceptional and commendable.” Deputy Commissioner of Police Ramesh Dhumal added, “Akhre's unique discipline serves as an inspiration for the entire department.”
