Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is set to observe the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21 at Malaviya Bhavan. Anticipating participation from over 1,000 individuals, this event is poised to be the largest yoga gathering ever hosted by BHU.
Theme and Participants
The theme for this year's celebration is 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing'. The event is expected to draw around 300 cadets from the National Cadet Corps (NCC), over 200 volunteers from the National Service Scheme (NSS), and more than 300 students enrolled in the Yoga course at Malaviya Bhavan. Additionally, faculty members, staff, officials, and students of the university will also take part.
Event Schedule
The main event will be held from 6:30 am to 8:30 am at the Malaviya Bhavan complex. Mass yoga practice sessions will be conducted in the gardens on either side of Malaviya Bhavan as well as in the main auditorium. A live telecast of the Prime Minister's International Day of Yoga programme will also be screened during the session.
The event will be organized in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of India. The formal International Day of Yoga ceremony will follow the mass yoga practice session.
