Gandhinagar: Ahead of International Yoga Day, which will be observed on June 21, the state government announced that Gujarat has achieved the milestone of having the highest number of yoga teachers and yoga classes among all states in India.
State Yoga Board Chairman's Announcement
State yoga board chairman Sheeshpal Rajput stated on Friday that currently, over 4,985 free yoga classes are being conducted across the state, with approximately 4-5 lakh people practicing yoga daily. He further mentioned that over the past six years, the board has trained more than 1.5 lakh certified yoga instructors. Additionally, 750 yoga coaches have been permanently appointed to ensure citizens receive quality guidance.
Health Awareness Drive
An official statement highlighted that as part of the health awareness drive, more than 8.04 lakh citizens participated in 763 yoga camps organized in the state this year. This initiative underscores Gujarat's commitment to promoting yoga and wellness among its residents.
The achievement reflects the state's dedication to health and fitness, setting a benchmark for other states to follow. With International Yoga Day approaching, Gujarat's efforts are expected to inspire more people to adopt yoga in their daily lives.
