Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta will conduct a 'Yoga with Yodha' programme at the Sri Kshetra Karinjeshwara, a renowned religious site in Dakshina Kannada located at Kodyamale hill range, on the occasion of International Yoga Day on Sunday.
The MP said that to promote tourism in Dakshina Kannada, the programme is being organised at religious and tourist destinations in the district. He invited the public to participate in the third edition of the 'Yoga with Yodha' practice session, which will take place on the premises of the renowned religious site in Dakshina Kannada.
"Initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, International Yoga Day is celebrated in over 180 countries and has gained global recognition. The theme for this year's 12th World Yoga Day is 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing', highlighting the immense role of yoga in maintaining physical and mental well-being. This yoga session, guided by yoga practitioner Gopalakrishna Delampady, will bring students, retired soldiers, dignitaries, yoga enthusiasts, and the public together on a single platform amidst the natural beauty of the Karinjeshwara hill area," Capt Chowta said.
"It is a great opportunity to gain spiritual and physical vitality by practicing yoga in the lap of nature," he added.
'Yoga with Yodha' was successfully held for the first time at Sasihithlu, a hub for adventure water sports, and previously at the seashore of the historical Someshwara Temple. This time, it is being organised at Karinja Hill, located 1,500 feet above sea level, he said.
"It is our hope that this magnificent religious and tourist destination gains recognition on the global map. This is a small effort to introduce the rich heritage of our coast to the world. Social media influencers, media, and the people of our region should visit in large numbers and create engaging content that conveys the divinity of the site, thereby encouraging tourists from across the country and abroad to visit this sacred place," he added.
