Baljagat Hosts Traditional Doll Wedding in Nagpur

Nagpur: Celebrating tradition and imagination, Baljagat hosted ‘Bahula Bahuli Che Lagna' (doll wedding) transforming its Laxmi Nagar premises into a vibrant wedding venue. Organized under the guidance of Shishu Ranjan and Bal Ranjan children's wings, the event sought to familiarize the younger generation with regional customs through an interactive, community-driven simulation.

Traditional Attire and Rituals

The ceremonial wedding of dolls, designated as Chiranjiv 'Gudda' and Chi Sau Ka 'Guddi,' adhered to traditional Maharashtrian matrimonial customs. The doll groom was attired in a golden kurta, conventional dhoti, and a saffron ‘pheta' (turban). The doll bride was draped in a yellow and green ‘shalu' (saree), complemented by miniature traditional jewelry, including a nath (nose ring) and pearl ‘mundavalya' across the forehead.

Community Participation

An enthusiastic crowd of children and parents packed the venue as elders performed the traditional rites. From the raising of the ‘Antarpat' (sacred curtain) to the exchange of massive, fragrant jasmine garlands, the atmosphere was filled with cheers and wedding chants. By transforming a classic game of Bhatukali (house) into a community celebration, Baljagat gave Nagpur's younger generation a joyful masterclass into the rich and beautiful cultural heritage.

Baljagat's initiative to blend play with cultural education was widely appreciated by parents and community members. The success of the event underscores the need for such interactive programs to keep traditions alive among the youth. The organization plans to host similar events in the future, aiming to strengthen cultural ties within the community.
