Daud Ali Sheikh, a 48-year-old sanitation worker, made the unexpected find while collecting waste from the locality. At the municipal dumping ground, he noticed a packet containing valuable gold items. Despite his own family facing difficult times, Sheikh immediately took steps to locate the owner.
He first informed the local councillor and the supervisor at the waste collection centre about the discovery of the wealth in the waste. Only after this did he begin visiting houses in the area, going door-to-door in an effort to find the rightful owner. His diligent search paid off when he identified the household from which the ornaments had been mistakenly discarded.

The gold ornaments belonged to a woman from Bagati, whose mother had inadvertently thrown the packet into the waste van along with other trash. An official from the civic body recounted, "Sheikh returned to the locality. He went to each house there, looking for its owner. He found the house that had thrown the items.
