Srikalahasti Temple Gears Up for Spectacular Mahasivaratri Celebrations
The historic Lord Shiva temple at Srikalahasti, situated on the banks of the Swarnamukhi river, is adorned in magnificent decorations as it prepares for the annual Mahasivaratri festival. The grand celebrations are scheduled to commence on February 10 at this ancient and revered shrine, attracting thousands of devotees from across the country.
Government Oversight and Festival Preparations
AP Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy conducted a comprehensive review of the festival arrangements with officials from Srikalahasti Devasthanams and the Tirupati district administration on Friday. The minister emphasized that the state government has decided to celebrate Maha Sivaratri in a grand manner throughout Andhra Pradesh.
The coalition government is organizing festivals in all temples strictly according to Agama rules and traditional practices, ensuring authenticity and spiritual significance. Minister Reddy confirmed that most arrangements at Srikalahasti are already complete, with additional steps being taken to install new electric decorations following government approval.
Darshan Facilities and Ticket Categories
For the convenience of devotees, darshan tickets will be available in two distinct categories: Rs 200 and Rs 500. Importantly, free darshan will be provided to all other devotees who wish to participate in the spiritual celebrations without financial burden.
Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Sudhir Reddy highlighted that elaborate arrangements have been implemented to ensure the Brahmotsavams are conducted more effectively than in previous years. All necessary facilities will be provided to ensure smooth darshan for every devotee, he assured. Additionally, pocket calendars featuring Lord Srikalahasteeswara Swamy and Goddess Gnana Prasoonambika Devi will be distributed to all attendees as spiritual mementos.
Enhanced Security and Public Facilities
District Collector Dr. S Venkateswar emphasized that special importance is being given to common devotees during the festival. The Brahmotsavams will be conducted with improved coordination among all government departments compared to last year's arrangements.
Strict measures are being implemented to prevent child marriages during the festival period, reflecting the administration's commitment to social welfare alongside religious celebrations. To accommodate the influx of visitors, additional bus services will be arranged specifically for devotees traveling to the temple.
Comprehensive Security Measures
The Tirupati district police wing has been directed to establish elaborate security arrangements for the Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavams. Security infrastructure will be significantly strengthened through enhanced CCTV camera coverage and drone surveillance systems to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure a safe environment for all participants.
These comprehensive preparations demonstrate the combined efforts of temple authorities, district administration, and state government officials to create a memorable and spiritually fulfilling Mahasivaratri experience at the Srikalahasti temple while maintaining strict security protocols and social responsibility.
