In a heartwarming ceremony held at the Thiruvananthapuram Zoo on Tuesday, the lion cubs born to parents Leo and Naila were officially named Simba and Suri. The announcement was made by Minister J Chinchu Rani, who presided over the event, marking a significant milestone for the zoo and its conservation efforts.

Birth and Naming Details

The cubs were born on January 20, 2026, and have since been under the careful watch of the zoo's dedicated staff. The names Simba and Suri were chosen to reflect the cubs' majestic heritage and the zoo's commitment to wildlife preservation. Recognition for Dedicated Caretakers

During the ceremony, special commendation was given to animal keeper V Anilkumar, who has devoted extensive time and effort to the care of the cubs since their birth. His dedication was highlighted as a key factor in the cubs' healthy development.
