Cartridge, pebble, wood found in gangrape survivor surgery

A cartridge, a pebble, and a piece of wood were recovered from the private parts of an alleged gangrape survivor during surgery at Begusarai Sadar Hospital on Thursday, revealing the horrific extent of injuries she sustained in a gangrape in the Chakia police station area on June 11. The disturbing discovery, made a week after the incident, has sparked outrage and intensified the police investigation.

Details of the Incident

According to the survivor and her family, the incident occurred around midnight on June 11 under the Chakia police station area. The woman stated she had stepped out of her house to use an outdoor toilet when a group of armed men intercepted her.

“It was around midnight. The miscreants tied my hands and legs and gagged me before taking me to a secluded place near the house. They then took turns raping me,” she said.

Family members alleged that the accused also inflicted severe injuries on her with a sharp-edged weapon. They further claimed the attackers locked the house from the outside so that the woman’s husband remained unaware of the assault while it was taking place.

Medical Treatment and Surgery

After failing to find her inside the house, family members launched a search and eventually found her in a serious condition. She was admitted to Begusarai Sadar Hospital on June 12, and an FIR was registered the same day. After receiving initial treatment, she was discharged on June 12.

However, the survivor said her suffering did not end there. “Even after being discharged from the hospital, I was suffering from constant severe pain.” The woman was brought back to the hospital on Wednesday after her condition worsened and the pain became unbearable. Following medical examinations, including an ultrasound, doctors decided to operate on her on Thursday. During the surgery, doctors recovered a cartridge, a pebble, and a piece of wood from her private parts, leaving family members shocked.

Police Investigation

The survivor said an FIR had been lodged against Suraj Kumar, Ramu Mahto, and Nitish Mahto, along with two unidentified persons. “However, police failed to arrest any accused in the case,” she alleged. Senior police officers visited the hospital on Thursday after details of the case and the alleged brutality came to light.

Begusarai Sadar SDPO-1 Anand Kumar Pandey confirmed the recovery of the cartridge and other objects during surgery. “An intensive investigation is already underway, and raids are being conducted to arrest the suspected persons in the case. Police are awaiting further forensic and medical reports,” he said.

Meanwhile, family members alleged that some of the accused had also attempted to sexually assault the woman around four months ago.
