Belagavi's Sacred Yellammana Gudda Temple Prepares for Grand Bharata Hunnime Fair

The revered shrine of Yellammana Gudda at Savadatti in Belagavi district, dedicated to the deity Renuka Yellamma, is all set to host the annual Bharata Hunnime fair commencing on February 1. This significant religious event draws lakhs of devotees not only from Karnataka but also from neighboring states like Goa and Maharashtra, making it a major pilgrimage destination in the region.

Comprehensive Facilities for Devotees

The Sri Renuka Yellamma Temple Development Authority has undertaken extensive preparations to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for all visitors. In light of the winter season, the authority has provided hot water facilities across 28 bathing complexes, offering relief to devotees during their ritual ablutions. To enhance safety and visibility during night hours, 41 high-mast lights have been strategically installed throughout the temple premises, illuminating the area effectively.

Additionally, 50 mobile charging points have been identified and made available for public use, catering to the modern needs of pilgrims. Multiple drinking water kiosks have been set up at various locations to keep devotees hydrated. A dedicated help centre will operate to provide timely information and address any grievances, ensuring a devotee-friendly environment.

Enhanced Traffic and Security Measures

Traffic movement and parking have been streamlined with clear directional signage to manage the influx of vehicles efficiently. Special arrangements, including drinking water facilities, have been made for cattle, as many devotees traditionally arrive in bullock carts, reflecting the cultural significance of the fair.

This year, special emphasis has been placed on traffic management, with a 'no parking' zone designated on Jogulabhavi Road to prevent congestion. To maintain law and order, a robust security deployment includes 600 police personnel and 500 Home Guards, as highlighted by SP K Ramarajan. Deputy commissioner Mohammad Roshan has appealed to devotees to maintain peace and utilize the provided facilities responsibly.

Accessible Darshan Timings

Devotees will be allowed darshan at all times except during the morning and evening puja hours, ensuring ample opportunity for worship. This flexible schedule aims to accommodate the large crowds expected during the fair, making the spiritual experience more accessible to everyone.
