MIMARU Teams Up with Sumitomo to Launch Family Clothing Rental Service in India
MIMARU & Sumitomo Launch Clothing Sharing for Tourist Families

In a novel move to enhance the travel experience for visiting families, Japanese hospitality company MIMARU has announced a strategic partnership with the trading giant Sumitomo Corporation. Together, they are launching a pilot project for a clothing sharing service specifically designed for inbound family travelers to India.

A Solution for Packing Woes

The core idea behind the service is to alleviate the significant luggage burden faced by families, especially those with young children, when traveling internationally. The service will allow guests to rent essential clothing items for both adults and children for the duration of their stay. This initiative directly tackles the common pain point of overpacking and allows travelers to move more freely and conveniently.

The pilot phase of this innovative service is scheduled to commence in June 2024. It will be initially rolled out to guests staying at MIMARU serviced apartments located in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). This choice of location is strategic, given the region's status as a major gateway for international tourists entering India.

How the Clothing Rental Service Will Operate

The operational model is designed for seamless integration into the guest experience. Travelers will be able to pre-book their required clothing packages online through a dedicated platform before their arrival. Upon checking into their MIMARU apartment, the rented clothing will be waiting for them, ready to use.

The service promises a hassle-free cycle where all logistics, including the delivery of clean clothes and the collection of used items, will be managed efficiently. At the end of the rental period, guests simply return the clothing, eliminating the need to carry soiled laundry or excess baggage on their return journey.

Strategic Expansion and Future Vision

This collaboration is not MIMARU's first foray into the Indian market. The company, known for its family-friendly apartment-style hotels, has been actively expanding its footprint in the country. It currently operates properties in key areas of Delhi and has ambitious plans to grow its portfolio across other major Indian cities.

The partnership with Sumitomo Corporation leverages the latter's vast experience in global business and logistics. By combining MIMARU's deep understanding of hospitality and family traveler needs with Sumitomo's operational prowess, the venture aims to set a new standard for convenience in the travel and tourism sector.

If the pilot project in Delhi-NCR proves successful, the partners plan to expand the clothing sharing service to other Indian cities where MIMARU is present. This move signals a growing trend of personalized, value-added services aimed at improving the overall tourist experience in India, making the country a more attractive and convenient destination for international families.
