India Poised to Formally Enter Pax Silica Alliance This Friday
NEW DELHI: India is anticipated to officially become a member of the United States-led Pax Silica strategic alliance this Friday. This significant development coincides with ongoing efforts between New Delhi and Washington to finalize a proposed trade agreement and advance various other initiatives designed to fortify bilateral relations.
What is the Pax Silica Alliance?
Launched in December 2025, Pax Silica is a major international initiative with the core objective of securing the global artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor supply chain. A primary goal is to reduce dependence on non-aligned nations, thereby enhancing economic security among trusted partners.
The current member nations include the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Greece, Israel, Qatar, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
Strategic Goals and India's Role
The alliance is fundamentally aimed at constructing a secure, resilient, and innovation-driven supply chain for critical minerals and artificial intelligence. India's expected entry in February 2026 is seen as a pivotal move. It will integrate India's vast talent pool, ambitious semiconductor development plans, and strategic geographical location into the alliance framework.
This membership will grant New Delhi a influential seat at the table, enabling it to help shape the future global economic and technology architecture. The invitation was extended last month by US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor.
The Pax Silica Declaration and Shared Vision
A Pax Silica Summit was held in Washington on December 12, where partner nations signed the foundational Pax Silica declaration. This document outlines a shared vision for deep economic and technological cooperation across entire supply chains—spanning from raw materials and critical minerals through to semiconductors and AI infrastructure.
The declaration emphasizes a firm commitment to mutual prosperity and security. It states, "We recognise that a reliable supply chain is indispensable to our mutual economic security." Furthermore, it acknowledges AI as a transformative force for long-term prosperity, stressing that "trustworthy systems are essential to safeguarding our mutual security and prosperity."
One of the key pillars of Pax Silica is establishing a durable economic order intended to drive AI-powered prosperity across all partner nations. The declaration envisions that "economic value and growth will flow through and across all levels of the global AI supply chain, driving historic opportunity and demand for energy, critical minerals, manufacturing, technological hardware, infrastructure, and new markets not yet invented."
India's impending accession marks a major step in aligning its technological and economic ambitions with a coalition of leading nations, positioning it centrally in the evolving landscape of critical technology supply chains.
