French President Emmanuel Macron surprised many with an unusual diplomatic gesture as he bid farewell to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Hindi at the end of the Indian leader's France visit. In a special video message, Macron addressed PM Modi as "Priya Mitra Narendra" and praised the enduring friendship between India and France. The gesture came after extensive bilateral discussions on defence cooperation, space collaboration, innovation, startups and emerging technologies. The two leaders also met on the sidelines of the G7 Summit and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership across multiple sectors.
