Mangaluru: Newly appointed Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president BK Hariprasad will visit the city on Tuesday to attend the SIR Jana Jagruti Samavesha titled ‘Namma Nade, Matha Rakshane Kade’, scheduled to be held at Kudmul Ranga Rao Hall at 10.30am.
Programme Aims to Protect Voting Rights
Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee president Harish Kumar told reporters the programme aims to create awareness among party workers and booth-level agents (BLAs) on safeguarding voting rights. He alleged an attempt by the Centre to "steal votes” and said the programme aims to protect every vote, and inform about the implications of SIR and similar issues seen in other states. Training camps have already been conducted to mobilise BLAs, he said.
CM's Special Interest in Coastal Districts
Kumar said CM DK Shivakumar has shown special interest in the coastal districts, mainly in tourism and industrial growth. MLC Ivan D’Souza urged people to fill and submit enumeration forms to ensure their names remain on the voter list. Former minister Ramanath Rai said that while there are attempts to manipulate votes, the party will ensure that all legitimate voters are protected.
