North Korea Slams US Over Venezuela, Warns of 'Catastrophic Consequences'
North Korea Condemns US Actions in Venezuela

In a sharp escalation of diplomatic rhetoric, North Korea has launched a fierce condemnation against the United States, accusing it of committing the "most serious form of encroachment of sovereignty" in Venezuela. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) warned that Washington's actions are dangerously destabilising the region and undermining the global order.

DPRK's Strong Statement via KCNA

The criticism was delivered through a statement from a spokesperson of North Korea's foreign ministry, which was published by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The spokesperson declared that Pyongyang is closely observing the unfolding situation in Venezuela. The statement explicitly linked the current crisis to American actions, highlighting increased instability in an already fragile region.

"We are paying attention to the gravity of the present Venezuelan situation caused by the US high-handedness act, in connection with the increase of instability to be added to the already weakened regional situation," the spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Accusations of US 'Rogue' Behaviour

The North Korean foreign ministry did not mince words, characterising the US actions as a clear example of its "rogue and brutal nature," a pattern it claims the international community has witnessed for a long time. The statement branded the US moves as a "hegemony-seeking act."

Furthermore, Pyongyang asserted that this act constitutes a "wanton violation" of the United Nations Charter and established international law. The principles of sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and territorial integrity were cited as the main pillars being trampled by Washington's policies.

A Warning of Dire Consequences

The statement carried a stark warning for the international community. North Korea cautioned that if left unchecked, the developments in Venezuela could precipitate "catastrophic consequences" for the structure of both regional and international relations.

Calling for a global response, the DPRK urged nations worldwide to recognise the seriousness of the Venezuelan crisis. It appealed for voices of "due protest and denunciation" against what it described as the United States' habitual violation of other countries' sovereignty.

The full text of the statement, as relayed by KCNA, read: "The Foreign Ministry of the DPRK strongly denounces the U.S. hegemony-seeking act committed in Venezuela as the most serious form of encroachment of sovereignty and as a wanton violation of the UN Charter and international laws with respect for sovereignty, non-interference and territorial integrity as their main purpose."

This forceful condemnation from North Korea adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing geopolitical tensions surrounding Venezuela, positioning Pyongyang as a vocal critic of US foreign policy and a defender of state sovereignty principles, as it defines them.
