15.9 lakh Haryana farmers get Rs 319.1 crore PM-Kisan

More than 15.9 lakh farmers in Haryana received Rs 319.1 crore under the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Yojana on Saturday. The disbursement was part of a nationwide release of over Rs 18,880 crore to 9.4 crore farmers by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

State-level event highlights

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini addressed the state-level 'PM Kisan Utsav Diwas' programme in Panchkula. He stated that with this latest tranche, Haryana farmers have received a cumulative Rs 7,881.6 crore under the scheme since its inception.

Saini emphasized that the DBT mechanism has ensured transparency by eliminating middlemen and delays, providing timely financial support directly to farmers. He reiterated that Haryana procures all 24 crops at the minimum support price (MSP) and has paid nearly Rs 1.8 lakh crore directly to around 12 lakh farmers over the past 12 procurement seasons.

Push towards natural farming

The chief minister also highlighted the state's push towards natural farming, noting that nearly two lakh farmers have registered on the state portal, covering approximately three lakh acres of land.

The PM-Kisan scheme provides income support of Rs 6,000 per year to eligible farmer families, payable in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each. The 23rd instalment continues the government's commitment to doubling farmers' income by 2022, though the target year has been extended.
