The district administration of Kaithal has approved the installation of 200 CCTV cameras at 62 strategic locations across the city. This initiative aims to bolster public safety and assist law enforcement in monitoring activities effectively.
Surveillance Expansion
The project will cover key areas including marketplaces, intersections, and public buildings. The cameras will be high-definition with night vision capabilities, ensuring round-the-clock monitoring. Officials stated that the feed will be directly linked to the police control room for real-time analysis.
Funding and Implementation
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2.5 crore, funded under the Smart City mission. The installation is expected to be completed within three months. Tenders have been invited from qualified vendors, and the work order will be issued soon.
Residents have welcomed the move, citing concerns over rising petty crimes. Local shopkeeper Ramesh Kumar said, 'This will deter criminals and make us feel safer.' The administration also plans to integrate the system with facial recognition software in the future.
