The survey revealed that a total of 274 buildings in the Central Zone are in a hazardous condition, posing a risk to public safety.
Notices Issued Under GPMC Act
The AMC's property tax department has issued notices to the owners, persons responsible, and occupants of these buildings under Section 264 of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations (GPMC) Act. The notices mandate the removal of dangerous or dilapidated parts, necessary repairs, and preventive measures to avoid any accidents.
Liability for Damages
The AMC has clearly stated that the property owner, the person responsible, or the tenant will be held liable for any damage resulting from the collapse of hazardous building parts. This move aims to ensure accountability and prompt action from those responsible for maintaining these structures.

From 2023 to 2025, a total of 1,251 notices were issued for dangerous buildings across the city. This year alone, 274 notices have been issued, reflecting the AMC's intensified efforts to address building safety concerns, especially along the Rath Yatra route.
