Bengaluru Water Supply Disruption: East and South Areas Affected Thursday
Bengaluru: Residents in several areas of east and south Bengaluru are set to experience significant disruption in their water supply on Thursday. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced that it will be undertaking crucial installation work for EMF meters near the Gottigere reservoir. This essential infrastructure activity is a key component of the ongoing Cauvery V Stage project, which aims to enhance the city's water distribution network and ensure more efficient management of this vital resource.
Affected Areas and Duration of Water Supply Disruption
The water supply disruption is scheduled to occur from 6:00 AM on Thursday until 6:00 AM on Friday. During this 24-hour period, pumps will be shut down to facilitate the safe installation of the EMF meters. The affected localities include a wide range of neighborhoods across east and south Bengaluru. Specifically, residents in Whitefield, Nalluhalli, Siddapura, Nagondanahalli, Ramagondanahalli, Channasadra, Hoodi, Garudacharpalya, Doddanekkundi, Munnekolala, Kumaraswamy Layout, Poornaprajna Layout, Banashankari, Kollahalli, Anjanapura, Gottigere, Begur, Kodichikkanahalli, Kudlu, and Kadugodi should prepare for temporary water unavailability.
Importance of the Cauvery V Stage Project and EMF Meter Installation
The installation of EMF meters is a critical step in the Cauvery V Stage project, which is designed to augment Bengaluru's water supply capacity and improve distribution efficiency. EMF meters, or electromagnetic flow meters, are advanced devices that accurately measure water flow, enabling better monitoring and management of the water supply system. By implementing these meters near the Gottigere reservoir, the BWSSB aims to reduce water wastage, detect leaks more promptly, and ensure equitable distribution across the city. This proactive measure is part of broader efforts to address Bengaluru's growing water needs and infrastructure challenges.
