Buxar wheat procurement resumes with 10-fold target hike

Wheat procurement through cooperative societies in Buxar district is set to resume, providing much-needed relief to farmers. The state government has increased the procurement target from 628 metric tonnes (MT) to 6,040 MT, a nearly tenfold rise.

Revised target brings hope to farmers

While the revised target remains below the district's total wheat output, it is expected to ease the difficulties faced by local growers. Radheshyam Rai, a farmer from Dumraon, noted that the earlier low target had restricted procurement, forcing many to sell their wheat in the open market at low prices.

50 PACS selected for streamlined operations

To streamline operations, the Department of Cooperative has selected 50 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). Under the new target, each PACS will purchase approximately 1,200 quintals of wheat. Officials confirmed that the earlier target of 628 MT had already been achieved, after which procurement had stalled. With the revised allocation, procurement will now restart in the selected societies.
