Delhi's Kondli Bridge Construction Resumes to Alleviate Traffic Woes
Commuters in New Delhi can anticipate significant relief from chronic traffic congestion near the Kondli Bridge as construction work has recommenced on an incomplete structure that had been stalled since last year. This initiative is specifically designed to streamline vehicular movement for drivers utilizing the Noida Link Road towards Anand Vihar and adjacent localities.
Key Routes and Persistent Congestion Issues
The bridge serves as a critical link connecting several major thoroughfares, including the Noida-Ghaziabad Marg, Kalyanpuri-Khadipuri Road, and Chand Cinema Road. Heavy traffic volumes and multiple signals in this area frequently result in prolonged jams, making congestion a persistent problem for daily travelers.
Project Details and Revised Budget
According to official sources, the bridge was approximately 85% complete when work was abruptly halted. The stoppage was attributed to necessary design modifications, which subsequently led to a revision in the overall project cost. Initially estimated at Rs 25 crore, the revised expenditure has now been increased to Rs 37 crore. With the modified budget receiving approval, the remaining funds have been allocated, enabling construction to restart promptly.
Expected Benefits for Commuters
Upon completion, the bridge is projected to facilitate smoother traffic flow from Kalyanpuri and Khadipuri towards Ghaziabad, eliminating the need to stop at the Kondli Bridge traffic signal. Similarly, commuters traveling from Ghaziabad will experience uninterrupted access to Kondli. This development is anticipated to substantially reduce waiting times at signals and decongest the busy junction, offering much-needed respite to motorists.
Enhanced Connectivity and Dual-Structure Plan
The bridge will also provide considerable advantages for motorists using the Noida Link Road towards Ghazipur and Anand Vihar. Vehicles originating from Ghazipur will gain easier access to Kondli, Vasundhara Enclave, Dallupura, and Mayur Vihar Phase-III. Officials clarified that the project, initiated in 2022, involves constructing flyovers on both sides of the drain near Kondli Bridge. One side connects the Kalyanpuri-Khadipuri Road towards Ghazipur, while the other links to the road leading to Ghaziabad. This dual-structure plan is strategically intended to segregate traffic flow and minimize bottlenecks effectively.
Project Impact and Timeline
The two bridges, being constructed at a total cost of Rs 37 crore, are expected to benefit approximately 1.2 lakh commuters daily. With construction activities now back on track, authorities have set an ambitious target to complete the remaining work within the next three to four months, promising a swift resolution to the area's traffic challenges.
