Prayagraj: The government is dedicated to ensuring the Ganga remains uninterrupted and pure (aviral and nirmal), announced Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Rajbhushan Chaudhary, on Wednesday. Speaking during a visit to Sangam City, he highlighted ongoing efforts under the 'Namami Gange' program, noting that projects are progressing continuously to clean the river.
Chaudhary emphasized that the rise in populations of dolphins, crocodiles, and fish indicates improved water quality. Multiple tests have confirmed cleaner water and an uninterrupted flow. He claimed drains are being plugged and their discharge treated effectively.
The minister was in Prayagraj to attend events marking 12 years of the Narendra Modi government. He stated, "Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the country has seen comprehensive development across all sectors. Public awareness about water conservation has multiplied, which is crucial for future generations."
Earlier, Chaudhary cleaned a statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya at Balson Crossing and planted a sapling. Ten sanitation workers were honored during the event. As part of the 'Pragati Path Yatra,' he visited the historic Dashashwamedh Ghat in Daraganj, inspected beautification works for Mahakumbh, and performed aachman by sipping Ganga water. The yatra concluded at the statue of Ahilyabai Holkar, where he paid floral tribute.
BJP functionaries including Vivek Mishra, Anand Sonkar, Pawan Srivastava, and Arun Patel were present.
