Gujarat FRC Issues Notice to Ahmedabad School Over Excess Fee Collection
Gujarat FRC Notice to Ahmedabad School Over Excess Fees

The Gujarat government's Fee Regulation Committee (FRC) has issued a show-cause notice to Prakash Higher Secondary School in Bodakdev, Ahmedabad, over allegations that the school collected fees exceeding the approved amounts for the 2026-27 academic year. The notice follows multiple complaints from parents claiming that the school charged excess fees.

Details of the Notice and Parent Complaints

The FRC has directed the school authorities to appear before the committee on June 25 with relevant documents and explanations. According to reports, the school announced annual fees ranging from Rs 50,300 to Rs 64,000 for the current academic year and informed parents accordingly. The school has maintained that the fee hike is below 10%, which it claims is within permissible limits.

School's Response and FRC's Demands

In its response to the notice, the school management denied any violation of rules and stated it would present its case before the committee. The FRC has also asked the school to submit detailed records, including class-wise fee receipts collected during the academic year. The notice has triggered concerns among private school operators in Ahmedabad, who fear increased scrutiny.
