Hamirpur Officials Undergo Intensive Training for Census-27 Phase 1 Launch
Preparations for the smooth and efficient completion of Census-27 are in full swing across India, with Hamirpur district taking a proactive step by initiating a comprehensive training program for its officials. A three-day workshop commenced today at Hamir Bhawan in Hamirpur, bringing together all key personnel involved in the upcoming national census exercise.
Workshop Inauguration and Key Participants
The workshop was formally inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner and District Census Officer, Abhishek Garg. The session saw active participation from a wide range of officials, including all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, and staff from the Municipal Corporation and other urban bodies. This gathering aims to equip every participant with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure a flawless census process.
Emphasis on Error-Free Execution and Digital Transformation
Addressing the inaugural session, ADC Abhishek Garg highlighted the monumental scale of Census-27, describing it as a massive exercise where the role of charge officers will be crucial. He stressed that the primary responsibility for the entire process rests with these charge officers, making it imperative for them and their subordinate staff to thoroughly understand all census protocols. This deep understanding is essential to complete the task error-free, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection.
Garg outlined the two-phase structure of Census-27:
- Phase 1: Listing of all houses will be conducted from May 12 to June 11, 2026.
- Phase 2: Population enumeration, involving the collection of socio-economic data for every individual, is scheduled to begin in February 2027.
Digital Data Collection and Confidentiality Assurance
In line with modern technological advancements, Census-27 will be India's 16th census conducted primarily in digital mode. Garg explained that 34 items of information under 30 questions related to each person will be uploaded digitally. Citizens will have the option to upload this information themselves via mobile apps, but confirmation by the relevant enumerator will remain mandatory to verify accuracy.
He also reassured participants and the public about data security, stating that all personal information collected during the census will be kept completely confidential. No data will be shared with any external parties, adhering to strict privacy protocols. The process will also incorporate geo-tagging facilities to enhance precision in location-based data.
Expert Guidance and Collaborative Efforts
To further bolster the training, Assistant Director Priyanshu Tiwari from the Census Directorate of Himachal Pradesh, along with Nodal Officers Ajay Solanki and Himanshu Yadav, provided detailed insights into the census procedures. Their expertise helped clarify operational nuances and address potential challenges, fostering a collaborative environment aimed at seamless execution.
This workshop marks a significant step in Hamirpur's readiness for Census-27, setting a precedent for other districts to follow in ensuring a successful and technologically advanced national census.
