The two campaigns, aimed at raising awareness and curbing the supply of narcotics, were unveiled before a gathering of officials, students, and civil society members. Shivakumar emphasized the need for collective action, stating that the government alone cannot win this battle.
Government's Strategy and Public Participation
The CM outlined a multi-pronged approach involving strict enforcement of laws, rehabilitation programs, and educational initiatives. He called upon parents, teachers, and community leaders to play an active role in identifying and helping those at risk. According to Shivakumar, the campaigns will focus on high-risk areas and involve collaboration with local bodies and NGOs.

Statistics on Drug Abuse
While specific numbers were not provided at the launch, officials indicated that recent surveys show a worrying trend among youth in urban centers. The government plans to set up monitoring committees at district levels to track progress.
Impact and Next Steps
The campaigns will include helplines, counseling centers, and school outreach programs. The CM also warned of strict action against peddlers and called for public cooperation in reporting suspicious activities. The 2028 deadline aligns with the state's long-term development goals.
