Ludhiana Improvement Trust Chairman Issues Stern Warning on Punctuality, Corruption
Ludhiana Trust Chief Cracks Down on Staff Delays, Corruption

In a decisive move to overhaul public service delivery, the Chairman of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) has issued a strict set of directives to his staff, emphasizing punctuality, efficiency, and integrity. The warning comes amid a rising tide of complaints from citizens about stalled work and unresponsive officials.

Core Directives to Restore Trust and Efficiency

Chairman Tarsem Singh Bhinder convened a crucial meeting with executive officers and the superintending engineer on Tuesday. The primary agenda was to address the surge in public grievances. Bhinder made it clear that the reputation of both the LIT and the state government was on the line, leading to a series of non-negotiable instructions for all employees.

The key mandates issued are:

  • Strict office hours from 9 am to 5 pm must be adhered to by all staff without exception.
  • All office correspondence and public mail must be processed promptly to avoid unnecessary delays for citizens.
  • Elected public representatives, including councillors and sarpanches, are to be treated with due respect during their visits to the LIT office.
  • Any involvement in corrupt or illegal activities is strictly prohibited, with violations risking disciplinary action and damage to the institution's name.

Intensified Crackdown on Illegal Constructions and Encroachments

Moving beyond internal discipline, Chairman Bhinder turned his focus to unlawful activities impacting the city's development. He issued specific orders to the technical branch of the Trust.

The technical team has been instructed to intensify its drive against illegal encroachments and unauthorized constructions occurring within various LIT development schemes. This directive aims to reclaim public land and ensure planned urban growth in Ludhiana.

Public Camp and Open-Door Policy for Citizen Access

In a significant step toward direct public engagement, Bhinder has ordered full staff participation in a public camp scheduled for December 18. He declared that no leave would be granted on that day, ensuring maximum manpower is available to address citizens' work.

Furthermore, the Chairman announced a formal open-door policy to improve accessibility. He has made himself available at all times for the public. Bhinder advised that if any visitor faces difficulties in getting their work done through regular channels, they can submit a written application directly to him. He has committed to ensuring such work is completed within the stipulated time as per rules.

This series of measures underscores a renewed push for accountability and transparency within the Ludhiana Improvement Trust, directly responding to long-standing public concerns over administrative delays and malpractice.
