Madhubani District Administration Initiates Stray Cattle Capture Drive
The district administration in Madhubani launched a targeted operation on Friday to apprehend stray cattle found wandering through the town. This special drive was executed under the direct orders of the district magistrate, with municipal commissioner Umesh Kumar Bharati and Sadar sub-divisional officer Chandan Kumar Jha leading the initiative on the ground.
Operation Focuses on Public Safety and Traffic Flow
During the campaign, teams systematically rounded up stray animals from major roadways and transported them securely to designated gaushalas, or cow shelters. The presence of these animals on thoroughfares has been a persistent concern, as they not only risk causing accidents involving themselves but also present a significant danger to pedestrians and daily commuters, frequently contributing to serious traffic disruptions.
Municipal Commissioner Umesh Kumar Bharati emphasized that clearing the city of stray cattle is a foremost priority for the district administration. He explained that these animals obstruct the smooth movement of traffic, creating hazardous conditions. Bharati confirmed the drive was carried out effectively and assured that similar operations will be conducted regularly in the future to maintain safety standards.
Legal Framework and Coordination Ensure Humane Handling
Sadar SDO Chandan Kumar Jha detailed that the operation was conducted in strict compliance with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960. He highlighted the coordinated efforts between the Municipal Corporation and administrative officials, ensuring the captured animals were humanely housed in gaushalas. Furthermore, Jha stated that legal measures, including the imposition of fines, will be pursued against the owners of these stray animals as per established regulations.
This proactive measure underscores the administration's commitment to enhancing urban safety and addressing the longstanding issue of stray cattle in Madhubani, aiming to prevent accidents and improve overall traffic management in the town.
