Noida Administration Implements Strict Controls on Additional LPG Cylinders During Peak Wedding Season
In response to the ongoing wedding season and a significant spike in LPG demand, the district administration of Noida has introduced stringent conditions for approving requests for extra cylinders. Officials have mandated that gas agencies must conduct thorough verification before granting any additional allocations to ensure resources are used appropriately.
Surge in Demand Due to Festive Gatherings
District Supply Officer Smriti Gautam highlighted that the demand for LPG has escalated dramatically in recent days, primarily driven by numerous weddings, bhandaras (community feasts), and other large-scale gatherings. "Over the past two weeks, our office has been receiving more than a dozen such requests daily," Gautam stated, emphasizing the need for careful management.
She explained that while additional cylinders will be permitted for genuine needs, agencies are now required to perform physical verification of the requirements. "This step is crucial to confirm that cylinders are being sought for legitimate purposes and are not being diverted for unauthorized use," Gautam added, underscoring the administration's commitment to transparency.
Key Regulations and Guidelines
The advisory issued by the supply department outlines specific rules to maintain equitable distribution and prevent artificial shortages during this peak period:
- Physical Verification: Gas agencies must conduct on-site checks before approving any extra cylinder requests.
- Return Policy: Additional domestic cylinders issued for events must be returned the day after their use to ensure availability for others.
- Direct Coordination: Residents and event organizers are instructed to coordinate directly with authorized gas agencies, avoiding informal arrangements that could lead to misuse.
- Norm Compliance: Agencies are to work closely with sales officials to ensure all allocations adhere to established norms and regulations.
