Noida's Power Infrastructure Set for Major Upgrade with New Substations
In a significant move to bolster Noida's electricity network, over 10,000 consumers in Sectors 94 and 65 are poised to benefit from the construction of two new 33/11 kV substations. Work on these critical projects is already in progress, marking a key step in strengthening the city's power infrastructure to meet escalating industrial and residential demands.
Enhancing Reliability and Reducing Power Issues
Once operational, the substations are expected to significantly improve power reliability by addressing common problems such as voltage fluctuations, tripping incidents, and scheduled outages. This initiative is an integral part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), a nationwide program focused on modernizing power systems and ensuring a stable electricity supply across urban and rural areas.
Officials have emphasized that these new facilities will not only support Noida's rapidly growing population and expanding industrial base but also advance the transition towards a smarter electricity network capable of managing higher loads efficiently.
Official Insights on the Project's Significance
Vivek Kumar Patel, superintending engineer at PVVNL, highlighted the importance of this development. "The construction in Sector-94 and Sector-65 is a crucial step towards ensuring a reliable power supply. Both substations will be equipped with modern technology, enhancing our capability to cater to the growing consumption in both industrial and residential sectors," Patel stated.
In addition to the new substations, capacity augmentation efforts are underway at the Sector-16A substation within the chief engineer's office complex. Here, a 5 MVA transformer is being replaced with a 10 MVA unit to better accommodate increasing electricity demands.
