Bhubaneswar: Fisheries and animal resources development minister Gokulananda Mallick on Friday issued a stern warning to Omfed dealers, stating that strict action will be taken if they fail to clear their pending dues within seven days. The minister emphasized that the dealers collectively owe Omfed more than Rs 5 crore in pending payments.
“If the long-pending dues are not paid, Omfed will cancel their dealership and may file an FIR against them,” Mallick said while attending a comprehensive review meeting of the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (Omfed) in Bhubaneswar.
Historic Profit and Turnover
Mallick highlighted that Omfed has achieved a historic milestone by earning a net profit of Rs 10.23 crore during the financial year 2025-26. He further noted that the federation recorded a turnover of Rs 1,036.8 crore during the same period, the highest in its history.
Milk Procurement and Farmer Network
Presently, Omfed procures approximately 6.7 lakh litres of milk daily from nearly 3.24 lakh farmers through a network of 4,455 milk cooperative societies. The minister reviewed the progress of various programmes and projects undertaken by Omfed, including issues related to milk cooperative societies, dairy plants, procurement systems, and infrastructure upgrades.
Directives for Operational Efficiency
Mallick directed officials to ensure timely resolution of operational challenges and to accelerate developmental activities. He stressed the importance of maintaining efficiency in procurement and distribution to benefit both farmers and consumers.
The minister’s warning comes as a clear signal to dealers to settle their dues promptly to avoid legal consequences and loss of dealership.
