Patna CM Inaugurates Mandiri Drain Road to Ease Traffic

Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed road over the Mandiri drain in Patna, a significant infrastructure project aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the state capital. The road has been named after Naveen Kumar Sinha, the father of BJP national president Nitin Nabin.

Project Details and Connectivity

The newly built road offers commuters an alternative route connecting Nehru Path to J P Ganga Path, Ashok Rajpath, the double-decker flyover near Gandhi Maidan, and PMCH. Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 115 crore, the project is expected to substantially enhance urban connectivity and ease daily commuting. The work was completed under the supervision of Patna Smart City Limited.

The road spans 1,289 metres and functions as a box drain-cum-road, directly benefiting a large population in wards 21, 24, 25, 26, and 27. A drainage channel has also been built alongside the service road, complete with utility ducts. The project includes two ramps, three desilting chambers for regular cleaning and maintenance, and four sluice gates for effective water drainage management. Modern street lighting has been installed to improve the road's aesthetics and safety.

Inauguration Ceremony

Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, BJP national president and former Bihar minister Nitin Nabin, state president Sanjay Saraogi, ministers Nitish Mishra and Ram Kripal Yadav, MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia, and Patna mayor Sita Sahu were present on the occasion. Nabin, who formerly represented Bankipur as an MLA, thanked Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for fulfilling his father's dream.

Samrat stated that city residents can now travel directly from the Income-Tax Roundabout to J P Ganga Path. "This will facilitate easier commuting for city residents traveling to and from PMCH, NMCH, Gai Ghat, Kangan Ghat, Patna Sahib Gurdwara, and Didarganj," he said.

Addressing Traffic Woes

Addressing the gathering, Samrat noted that the area had long struggled with severe traffic congestion. "This locality is transitioning from a residential zone to a commercial hub. For this, I would like to express my gratitude to Nitin Nabin Ji and his entire team. We must not stop here. Our goal is to transform both ends of Patna into modern, new cities," he said.

The sewage lines of Sichai Bhavan, MLA Flats, Chajjubagh, Eco Park, Dhobi Ghat, Babu Bazar, Gardanibagh, and S P Verma Road flow into the Mandiri drain. The project is expected to ensure seamless connectivity for residents of wards 25, 26, and 27, besides benefiting hundreds of thousands of commuters traveling towards north Bihar. It is also anticipated to significantly reduce traffic congestion on Nehru Path.
