The Deputy Commissioners of Solan and Sirmaur districts in Himachal Pradesh have ordered the closure of all private and government educational institutions, medical educational institutes, and anganwadi centres on Friday, July 10, 2026, following a red alert issued by the Meteorological Department for heavy to very heavy rain, landslides, and cloudburst.
Precautionary Measure Amid Landslides and Road Blockages
The decision was taken as a precautionary measure after reports of landslides and road blockages disrupted normal life in various areas of the two districts. The orders were issued under Section 30 (v) of the Disaster Management Act. While institutions remain closed, staff have been directed to report for duty as usual.
Red Alert Issued by Meteorological Department
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert predicting heavy to very heavy rain, which increases the risk of landslides and cloudbursts in the region. Incessant rain since Thursday has already caused disruptions, prompting authorities to act swiftly to ensure public safety.
Impact on Normal Life
Reports from various parts of Solan and Sirmaur indicate that landslides and road blockages have significantly affected daily activities. The precautionary closure aims to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure the safety of students and staff.
