Varanasi Police Chief Orders Tight Security for NEET, Muharram

Varanasi Commissioner of Police (CP) Mohit Agrawal has directed all additional commissioners of police (CPs), deputy commissioners of police (DCPs), and other senior officials to enhance vigilance and alertness in view of the NEET examination scheduled for Sunday and the upcoming festival of Muharram. The directive was issued during a meeting held at his camp office on Friday evening to review preparations for these significant events.

Meeting Highlights and Key Directives

During the meeting, CP Agrawal assessed the performance of UP-112 emergency services across the districts and reviewed preparations for the NEET examination. He instructed his subordinates to maintain a strong focus on social media monitoring, security arrangements, and traffic management to ensure a smooth conduct of the exam.

Regarding Muharram, the CP emphasized the need for thorough inspections of sensitive locations, verification of procession routes, and deployment of rooftop and drone surveillance. He also called for the removal of encroachments along procession routes to prevent any untoward incidents.

Crime Investigation Timelines and Case Priorities

Agrawal ordered all gazetted officers to ensure that investigations of ordinary crimes are completed within 60 days and those of heinous crimes within 90 days. Specific instructions were given to prioritize quality disposal of cases under the SC/ST Act, dowry death cases, Gangster Act cases, and SR (Social Restriction) cases. He directed regular reviews at the DCP level, monitoring of professional criminals, and effective night patrolling to enhance public safety.

UP-112 Performance Review

Earlier, at a meeting with UP-112 personnel held at the Traffic Police Line auditorium, the CP reviewed the working methodology, service quality, response time, and public satisfaction. Due to continuous monitoring, the average response time has been recorded at 5 minutes 20 seconds, and the public satisfaction level stands at 94%. He issued instructions to ensure better behavior, discipline, conduct, and quality service from first responders.
