Visakhapatnam's 'Waste to Wonder' Competition Offers ₹22.5 Lakh in Prizes

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has announced an exciting new initiative as part of Swachh Survekshan 2025–26. Dubbed the 'Waste to Wonder' competition, this program aims to transform scrap materials into artistic sculptures, fostering both creativity and urban beautification in Visakhapatnam.

Promoting Creative Reuse and Environmental Protection

GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg emphasized the dual objectives of the competition. "We invite independent metal artists and interested citizens to participate and showcase their creativity," he stated. "Sculptures must be 4–8 feet tall, with at least 80% of the material comprising iron scrap and automotive waste. This will not only promote environmental protection but also boost creativity and beautify Visakhapatnam." The initiative encourages enthusiasts to craft artistic pieces from discarded materials, contributing to a cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing city environment.

Prize Structure and Competition Details

The total prize money across all GVMC zones is an impressive ₹22.5 lakh. Competitions will be held in each zone, with the following awards:
