Karnataka SIR: 4.48 Crore Forms Distributed

Massive Voter Revision Drive in Karnataka

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka has seen the distribution of 4.48 crore forms, with 56.6 lakh forms already digitised. The exercise, aimed at updating voter lists, has achieved over 90% form distribution in 112 of the 224 Assembly constituencies.

Progress and Coverage

According to officials, the drive has been particularly successful in rural areas, where door-to-door campaigns ensured wide coverage. The digitisation process involves scanning and uploading forms to the Election Commission's database, enabling faster updates.

In constituencies with high distribution rates, the focus is now on completing digitisation and resolving any discrepancies. The remaining constituencies are being prioritised to meet the target.

Impact on Voter Rolls

The SIR is expected to add new voters, remove deceased or shifted individuals, and correct errors. This will ensure accurate rolls for upcoming elections. Officials stated that the process is on track to be completed within the stipulated timeline.
