Kolkata to Get Light Rain and Thunderstorms on Sunday

The city of Kolkata is likely to experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms on Sunday, influenced by monsoon currents and a seasonal trough extending from Punjab to Bihar across Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The Regional Meteorological Centre issued a bulletin stating that favorable wind patterns and strong moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal are expected to bring thunderstorms and heavy rain, with extremely heavy rain in some parts, across north Bengal.

South Bengal Forecast

South Bengal, including Kolkata, is forecast to receive light rain and thunderstorms until June 26. Weather scientist Sourish Bandopadhyay explained, "Monsoon currents remain weak but they are active. Monsoon rain and thunderstorms will continue across south Bengal. North and South 24 Parganas, along with East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia and East and West Burdwan may receive thunderstorms on Sunday.
