The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has taken a suo motu notice of alleged violations of the reservation policy in the recruitment of lecturers by the Education Department. The commission has summoned the Secretary of the School Education Department to appear in person on July 3.
Suo Motu Action Over Recruitment Advertisement
According to commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi, the issue came to his attention after the department’s recruitment board issued an advertisement for lecturer posts that allegedly ignored the reservation policy for Scheduled Castes. Acting on this, the commission directed the secretary to explain the matter before it.
Commission's Commitment to Reservation Rules
Garhi stated that the commission is committed to ensuring strict compliance with reservation rules and will take necessary action if violations are confirmed. He emphasized that any deviation from the mandated quota would be dealt with severely to protect the rights of Scheduled Castes.
The hearing is scheduled for July 3, where the Education Secretary must appear personally to provide a detailed explanation. The commission has warned of further legal action if the explanation is unsatisfactory.
