Mysuru district administration has announced special tickets priced at Rs 2,000 for devotees to access the top of Chamundi Hill during the upcoming Ashada month celebrations, prioritizing crowd management. The Ashada month begins on July 15, with the first Ashada Friday falling on July 17, followed by Fridays on July 24, July 31, and August 7. Additionally, the Sri Chamundeshwari Vardhanti festival is scheduled for August 4.
Special Ticket Details and Purpose
The special ticket system is designed to regulate the flow of pilgrims and reduce congestion at the hilltop temple. According to district officials, the Rs 2,000 ticket will allow devotees to bypass long queues and ensure a smoother darshan experience. The move aims to prevent overcrowding, which has been a challenge in previous years during the auspicious Ashada month.
Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Yathindra Siddaramaiah stated, "Crowd management is our top priority this year. The special tickets will help us control the number of devotees at any given time and ensure safety." He added that regular free darshan will continue as usual, but those opting for the special ticket can avail priority access.
Ashada Month Significance and Schedule
Ashada month holds great religious importance, especially for devotees of Goddess Chamundeshwari. The five Fridays in the month are considered highly auspicious, drawing thousands of pilgrims to the hill shrine. The Sri Chamundeshwari Vardhanti festival on August 4 marks the birth anniversary of the deity and will feature special rituals and processions.
The temple authorities have also made arrangements for additional temporary facilities, including drinking water, restrooms, and medical aid, to cater to the expected surge in visitors. Police personnel and volunteers will be deployed to manage traffic and maintain order.

The special ticket initiative is expected to generate additional revenue for the temple trust, which will be used for infrastructure improvements.
