11 injured in clash over pit digging in MP's Khargone

A violent clash between two neighbouring families in Lalpur village under Balwada police station limits in Khargone district left 11 people injured on Friday night. The dispute erupted over digging a pit in front of a house.

Trigger of the Conflict

Balwada police station in-charge Ritesh Yadav told TOI that an argument broke out between Sakharam Rathore and his neighbour Rajesh Rathore over digging of a pit. The disagreement quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, with members of both sides allegedly attacking each other using stones, wooden sticks and sharp-edged weapons.

Injuries and Medical Care

Eleven people were injured in the clash and were admitted to Balwada hospital. Some of the seriously injured were later referred to hospitals in Khargone and Indore for further treatment on Saturday, Yadav said.

Legal Action

Police registered cases against 13 individuals based on complaints lodged by both parties. Four persons were booked on Sakharam’s complaint, while nine were named in the case registered on Rajesh’s complaint.

Previous Dispute

Police said the two groups were involved in a similar dispute a few days ago, which was resolved through a compromise. The latest incident suggests ongoing tensions between the families.
