A 12-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to his leg after being caught in a firing allegedly carried out by three men in northeast Delhi's New Usmanpur area on Monday. Police said they received information about the incident and rushed to the spot.

Preliminary investigation revealed that three men had allegedly opened fire outside the residence of a 43-year-old man, identified as Dharmender. During the incident, the boy, who was passing through the area on his way home, was struck by a bullet in the foot. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. A forensic team inspected the crime scene and collected evidence, including bullet casings and other relevant materials.

Police Action and Arrests

Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act and launched an investigation. Two of the accused, identified as Prankur (29) and Harsh (22), were apprehended. A country-made rifle was recovered from their possession. Efforts are underway to trace the third suspect, who remains at large. Police are also working to ascertain the motive behind the firing.
