Pune Police Detain 15-Year-Old Girl in Instagram-Lured Murder Case
Police in Pune have detained a 15-year-old girl for her alleged role in the murder of a 17-year-old boy. Authorities say she used her Instagram profile to deliberately lure the victim into a fabricated romantic relationship. Ninth Suspect Apprehended in Gruesome Crime
The girl becomes the ninth suspect apprehended in this murder investigation. Police have already arrested five youths aged between 19 and their early twenties. The investigation began when the victim's mother approached police on December 31. She reported that her son had left home on his two-wheeler on December 29 and never returned. Police teams from the Crime Branch Unit 3 launched a parallel probe that quickly identified four initial suspects. Investigation revealed these youths had a dispute with the victim and kidnapped him as a direct result of that conflict. The suspects had disappeared from Pune, prompting an extensive search operation.
Technical Leads and Confessions
Using technical investigation methods, police tracked the suspects to Belgaum in Karnataka. Teams were dispatched immediately, leading to the detention of all four suspects. During questioning, these individuals confessed to kidnapping and murdering the victim.
Police subsequently arrested two of these suspects while keeping the two minor suspects detained. The investigation continued to expand as police identified and arrested three more suspects and detained one additional minor. Based on information provided by the suspects, police located and exhumed the victim's buried body following proper procedures.
The Instagram Connection Revealed
Two days ago, the Crime Branch team received crucial information about the 15-year-old girl's involvement. Investigation revealed she knowingly trapped the victim in a fabricated romantic relationship using her Instagram profile. On December 29, she specifically lured him to a particular spot where other accused in the case were waiting.
"The girl deliberately used her Instagram profile to lure the victim," said an officer involved in the probe. "She brought him to a specific location where other accused kidnapped him, murdered him, and buried the body to destroy evidence."
Background of the Conflict
Police investigation uncovered that the deceased victim used to trouble some of the accused individuals. The suspects had been nursing grudges against him for some time. They eventually hatched a conspiracy to murder him, with the Instagram lure serving as their method to get him to a vulnerable location.
Legal Proceedings Begin
The 15-year-old girl has been presented before the Juvenile Justice Board following her detention. The board has remanded her to an observation home as legal proceedings continue. Police continue their investigation to determine the full extent of each suspect's involvement in this tragic case.
