19-Year-Old Arrested with MD Drugs Worth Rs 3 Lakh in Nagpur

In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Nagpur Crime Branch apprehended a young man for possessing a substantial quantity of the banned drug Mephedrone, commonly known as MD. The arrest was made as part of the ongoing 'Operation Thunder' drive aimed at curbing drug trafficking in the city.

Interception and Seizure Near Rajwada Palace

The police action unfolded on the evening of December 27. While conducting routine patrols in the vicinity of Rajwada Palace, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ganeshpeth police station, officers grew suspicious of an individual. The team intercepted Danish Khan Dilawar Khan Pathan (19), a resident of Bhaldarpura, Ganeshpeth.

A subsequent search of his person led to a major discovery. The police recovered approximately 54 grams of MD powder, neatly packed in a ziplock bag. The estimated street value of the seized narcotic is a staggering Rs 3 lakh.

Additional Evidence and Accused's Revelation

The haul did not end with the drugs. Law enforcement officials also confiscated several other items from the accused, which are believed to be linked to the illicit trade. The seized articles include:

  • Three mobile phones
  • A moped
  • A weighing scale
  • Other miscellaneous items

The total value of all confiscated materials amounts to Rs 4.18 lakh. During preliminary interrogation, the arrested teenager reportedly disclosed to the police that he had procured the contraband with assistance from an accomplice. He identified his associate as Nobi alias Isam, who operates from an area under the limits of the Kotwali police station.

Legal Action and Manhunt Launched

Following the seizure, the Ganeshpeth police station promptly registered a formal case against Danish Khan Pathan under the relevant stringent sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused is currently in police custody, where he is being questioned for further leads.

Simultaneously, the police have initiated a search operation to track down and apprehend the named accomplice, Nobi alias Isam. This arrest underscores the continued efforts of the Nagpur police to dismantle local drug networks and sends a strong message against peddling activities in the region.
