A speeding Hyundai car skidded off a bridge and plunged several feet onto the highway near the Sabzi Mandi on the Solan-Shimla bypass on Tuesday, around 4 pm. The two occupants of the vehicle escaped with injuries and are reported to be safe.
Impact and Damage
The car was reduced to smithereens due to its high speed and the force of the impact. CCTV footage of the incident, which quickly went viral, captured the vehicle flying through the air after losing control on the curve, before landing with a loud thud below the bridge.
Cause of the Accident
According to Additional SP Rajkumar Chandel, the driver failed to negotiate the curve at high speed, causing the car to veer off the road. The occupants were traveling from the Chambaghat area of Solan towards the highway when the accident occurred.
Legal Action
A monetary challan has been issued to the vehicle owner for speeding, as it posed a risk to other motorists on the road. Authorities have emphasized the dangers of speeding, especially on curves and bridges.
