Major Drug Bust at UP-Nepal Border: SSB and Police Seize 200 Bottles of Codeine Syrup
In a significant crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and local police conducted a joint operation on Wednesday night, resulting in the arrest of an 18-year-old youth and the recovery of a substantial consignment of 200 bottles of codeine syrup. The operation took place during a routine vehicle checking drive at the Thuthibari post in Maharajganj district, located along the sensitive Uttar Pradesh-Nepal border.

The arrested individual, identified as Rehan, was intercepted while transporting the illegal consignment. During questioning, Rehan revealed that he was acting on the instructions of the vehicle owner, Arshad, who hails from Sonauli. In addition to the codeine syrup, police recovered Rs 8,500 in cash from the accused. Based on Rehan's statement, authorities have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against Arshad, who is currently absconding.
