24 Arrested for Firing, Drinking at Bihar Chhathi Party

In a strict crackdown on illegal activities, the Bhojpur district police in Bihar arrested two dozen people for indulging in dangerous celebratory firing and consuming liquor during a traditional ceremony. The incident occurred during a 'Chhathi' celebration for a newborn child.

Police Action During Village Celebration

Acting on a specific tip-off, the Gajrajganj police station received information on Thursday about unruly behavior at a house in Badka Gaon village. The information stated that several individuals were dancing, brandishing illegal firearms, and openly consuming alcohol at the Chhathi party hosted at the residence of Hare Ram Yadav.

Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Raj promptly formed a special police team to raid the location. The team swiftly cordoned off the area surrounding the house to prevent anyone from escaping.

Arrests and Seizures at the Scene

Upon searching the premises, the police team found a group of men dancing in an inebriated state. A subsequent search led to the discovery of illegal weapons in their possession.

The police arrested 24 individuals from the spot. All arrested persons were subjected to medical examination, which confirmed they were under the influence of alcohol. The law enforcement officials also made a significant seizure from the party site.

"We seized one pistol and three used cartridges that were fired during the celebratory party," stated SP Raj while addressing a press conference on Thursday evening.

Zero Tolerance Towards Illegal Arms and Public Disorder

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of celebratory firing during social and religious functions in the region, a practice that often leads to fatal accidents and public terror. The police action underscores a firm stance against the use of illegal weapons and creating public nuisance under the guise of celebration.

The arrested individuals are facing legal proceedings for their actions. This crackdown serves as a strong warning against the misuse of firearms and violation of prohibition laws in the state.
